Experimental investigation of quantum fluctuation relations

Thermodynamics constitutes one of the pillars of Physics. Despite the fact that this is an old theory, the question of how its basic laws emerge from the underlying reversible dynamics is still open. Recently, the raise of quantum information theory brought new advances on what is now called quantum thermodynamics. One of these developments is the quantum fluctuation relation, whose classical version were experimentally tested in several contexts. However, its validity for the quantum world is still waiting for the experimental verification. In this work I will present such relation together with an experiment designed to test it in the quantum regime using single photons.
