Dr. Greenland has authored over 350 research reports, book chapters, monographs, and editorials. His research work is most notable in 3 areas of cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention. Greenland and colleagues demonstrated the substantial role of major cardiovascular risk factors in long-term cardiovascular risk prediction including factors associated with low disease risk. His research was among the first to show that cardiovascular risks after myocardial infarction are different in women and men. He has also been a research leader in the field of selective use of cardiovascular imaging, especially coronary calcium measurement by cardiac computed tomography, in cardiovascular risk assessment. He has chaired, or been a member, of multiple major AHA/ACC and NHLBI Guidelines panels dealing with CV imaging, prevention, or risk assessment.
