Extinction transitions in correlated external noise

Phase transitions can be observed in many phenomena, in particular,
they can be observed in the absorbing phase transition between extinction and survival of biological populations.
One of the simplest mean field models that describe this kind of phase transition is the logistic equation.

In this seminar we will analyze the phase transition of the logistic equation with long-range power-law correlated noise
that allows the system to fluctuate between the extinction and survival phases.
By mapping this problem onto reflected fractional Brownian motion, we will shed some light on how long-range power-law correlated noise changes the critical behavior of the system.
The results of the mapping onto the reflected fractional Brownian motion are supported by Monte Carlo simulations.
