Marylyn Setsuko Arai

Nanomaterials-based luminescent sensors for bacteria detection and quantification

Marylyn Arai has earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering from University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil and is currently a PhD student at the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC/USP). She has experience in the synthesis, functionalization, and optimization of nanomaterials such as upconversion nanoparticles, metallic nanostructures, and quantum dots. She is now particularly interested on the combination of functionalized-UCNPs with additional nanomaterials for the development of luminescent sensing platform, especially biosensors for infectious diseases and cancer diagnostics.
