Preparation of fluoride-phosphate glass and glassceramics doped with rare-earth ions for potential use as radiation detectors

The purpose of the project is the preparation and characterization of glass and glass ceramics of mixed fluorophosphate systems based on indium and / or sodium phosphate with alkali metal fluoride doped with rare earth ions with characteristics specific to the development of new materials that have ionizing radiation detection properties of the α-, β-, γ- or X- type through the process called scintillation and UV radiation. Great emphasis will be given to the preparation and optical and structural characterization of glasses, as well as the study of crystallization and its photophysical properties. The glasses will be prepared using themelting-quenching technique and the glass-ceramic will be obtained through the heat treatment of the glass.
